I have a new warm up in the works, and it will most likely be ready for Wednesday’s class. It has a lot of fun songs lined up, and I’ll be working on that choreo to go with it. The last one is a big party song, so will be working hard to make the movements match.
The warm-ups are designed with the following overall structure. We slowly raise the heartbeat while we do dynamic stretches. Then we move into isolations, continue with fitness (think squats and knees up), then we complete the warm-up with a cardio section. The movements in the warm-up are designed to cover some of the common ones we do in class — such as those step taps, marches, grapevines, squats, punches, and turning left and right or walking forwards and back.
Keep reading to learn what songs are in the warm-up! Learning the song really helps you pick up choreography faster. As always, it’ll be easy and repetitive.
No class Family Day, Feb 17
Remember that next Monday Feb 17 is a holiday, so there is no class (RDN, Qualicum Beach).
If you want, come say hi at the Coombs Family Day celebration – it’s free and there will be lots of fun stuff to check out (I’ll have a table in the hall). Feb 17th, 1-4pm at the Coombs Fairgrounds (1014 Ford Road). Info from ACRA. Come hang out! Maybe we can dance and show people what we do!?
Classes this week
Our “just for fun” coffee/tea/water last Friday was so much fun! Thank you so much to all of you who came out for a chat! We will do this in Qualicum Beach too the last week of the month after Thursday’s class.
Errington Hall is still decorated for our big Night at the Palace show (proceeds help keep the hall open!) — it looks so nice right now, come see the decor and take a class while you’re at it! We’ll have a couple swing and burlesque style songs in the playlist this week!

The new warm-up
Sorry about the weird video glitch in the email. It stumped a couple of us why such a strange quota (or whatnot) is being surpassed, and by who. Very strange, and I’ll save you the tech lingo, but if it happens again please click the link at the top of the email, and you can see the videos just fine on the web version of the message. I’ll try something different this week, and hopefully the videos will work again as links in the email.
Here are the four new songs in the upcoming warm-up that will hopefully be done by Wednesday! The were all released within the past few months, except one fun throwback added for good measure.
Hope you’re as excited as I am about the new warm-up! I may also be bringing a new cool down (pre-stretch) song to you this week.
See you soon, and as always let me know if you have any questions!!
